Welcome to Bild! This guide will help you set up your account and get started smoothly. We recommend reading through this article before diving in - this will give you a clear understanding of the setup process and key features.
Our Getting Started series is divided into two sections:
Setting up your Bild account (this section)
Getting started with the desktop app
We recommend completing this section first to learn how to set up your account, find important information, and navigate the Bild browser. Once you're familiar with these basics, move on to the Getting Started with the Desktop App section

Navigating Bild
Now that your account is ready, let's walk through key areas within Bild to help you find what you need.
Bild Browser Dashboard Overview
The dashboard is your central hub. Here, you can:
View, pin, and create projects (Left Side)
Access feedback items and approvals assigned to you (Right Side)
Go to account settings (Upper Right Corner)
Search within your entire account (Top Bar)
Reach support or view help center guides via the chat icon (Lower Left Corner)
Account Settings
Your available settings depend on your account role:
Admins: Have full access to account-wide settings, including user management, permissions, custom properties, and workflows.
Members & Viewers: Can update personal settings like name, password, tokens, and notifications.
💡 Bild Tips:
In your custom metadata settings, enable auto-increment for the revision/version number. This will automatically update the version when files are checked in or out, and increment the revision upon release.
In the "Table Columns" section, drag the "File Type" column to the visible area. This allows you to quickly filter files by type, such as parts, assemblies, or other document types.
Project & Files Page
Left Menu Dock: When inside a project, any add-ons and features in your subscription (e.g., BOMs, Supplier Portal) will appear here. You’ll also find Project Settings for managing integrations and general project configurations.
Right-Click Context Menu: Right-click a file or folder to access actions such as editing metadata, creating approvals, sharing, and moving files.
Search Bar: Located at the top of your project page, the search function helps you find files within the current project.
Search
When searching within a project, results will be limited to files in that specific project. You can search by:
File name
Part number
Custom properties
Recent Searches
💡 Bild Tip: To open files from your search history or search results in a new tab, hold Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) + click on the file name.
File Information Drawer
Each file’s information drawer includes key details such as:
Metadata
Parent/child references
Download options (universal file formats)
Historical data
To view this, right-click a file and select "Show File Info."
Viewer
To open the Viewer, simply double-click on a file. Bild's Viewer supports various CAD formats as well as other document types like PPT, Excel, Word, and PDF. It includes multiple tools useful for both CAD and non-CAD users, such as measurement, explosion views, and annotation features for adding feedback directly on documents.
