Search Functionality in Bild
Updated this week

Bild’s search feature allows you to quickly find files across multiple projects or within a specific project. When searching from the Bild dashboard, results span all projects, while searches conducted within a project are limited to that project. To initiate a search, a minimum of three characters is required.

Search History

Bild automatically saves your 20 most recent searches, making it easy to revisit and open recently searched files without needing to type queries again.

💡 Bild Tip: To open a file from your search results or search history in a new tab without losing your current page, hold Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) + click on the file name.

Search Categories & "AND" Searches

Bild search allows you to refine results by selecting specific categories, ensuring you find exactly what you need. Available categories include:

  • Metadata fields

  • Change Orders (ECOs)

  • Approvals

  • Bill of Materials (BOMs)

  • Files

To filter by category, click on "Categories" in the search bar and customize your search parameters.

Using "AND" Searches

Bild search supports AND searches, allowing you to find results that match multiple values. Use the "+" button to combine filters, such as searching for files with both "Level" and ".prt" in their metadata.

Using Wildcards in Search

Bild search is compatible with wildcard characters to help find files when you're unsure of the exact name:

  • "*" Wildcard: Matches multiple unknown characters (e.g., *"ed" finds files ending in “ed”).

  • "?" Wildcard: Matches a single unknown character (e.g., "1?3" finds 103, 123, and 153).
