Errors and How to Fix Them

Updated over a week ago

This guide outlines the most common issues users may encounter in Bild—especially with local sync and desktop app behaviors—and how to resolve them quickly.

If your issue isn’t listed, contact your Admin or reach out to our Support Team.

Local Files Not Showing “Local” Tag / General Syncing Issues

Symptoms:

  • Files exist on your local drive but are not showing the “Local” tag in the desktop app

  • Files are not syncing correctly between desktop and browser

Common Cause:
The local folder selected for Bild Desktop App is also syncing with another cloud service such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.

Solution:

  • Disable any other cloud syncing services for that folder

  • Alternatively, update your Desktop App to use a different folder:

    • Open Desktop App Settings → Change Local Folder

    • Select a new folder that is not connected to any cloud service

🚩 Important: It’s strongly recommended to avoid selecting folders connected to external sync tools to prevent conflicts.

File Appears Checked Out in Browser, But Not in Desktop App (or Vice Versa)

Symptoms:

  • A file shows as checked out on the web but not in the desktop app

  • The desktop app does not recognize a file check-out done from the browser

Common Cause:
The desktop app lost internet connectivity and needs to be resynced with the server.

Solution:

  • Ensure your computer is connected to the internet

  • Click on the "Hard Refresh" button found in your desktop settings

  • Allow a few minutes for the Desktop App to resync with the server

💡 Tip: If this happens frequently, check your VPN, firewall, or IT settings, as they may be interfering with sync.

Deleted File Still Appears Locally as a “New” File

Symptoms:

  • A file that was deleted from Bild still appears in your local folder and shows as a new file in the desktop app

Common Cause:
The file is still open or actively in use by another application (e.g., CAD tool, text editor), preventing deletion.

Solution:

  • Make sure the file is fully closed in all applications

  • If the file was already deleted by another user while you had it open, manually delete it:

    • Navigate to the file in your local file explorer

    • Right-click and select Delete to remove it from your local folder

👉 Important: Always close local files before attempting to delete them from Bild.
