March’s updates focus on improving how teams manage metadata, streamline CAD relationships, and work more efficiently across integrations and workflows. From new default settings to stronger linking between files, these enhancements are designed to reduce manual work and improve data consistency across your projects.
Here’s what’s new
Company - Level Default User Settings
Admins can now define default user settings at the company level, ensuring a consistent experience across all users without requiring individual setup. Ensure new users have key settings enabled.
To enable navigate to your account level settings and select User Defaults, here you can customize the settings and select apply to all users.
Click-to-Copy for Metadata Fields
You can now quickly copy metadata values with a single click, making it easier to reuse part numbers, IDs, and other key data across workflows. You'll no longer have to be in edit mode in a BOM to copy text from a cell, this helps to avoid accidental deletes or edits of cells while trying to copy the information.
While not in edit mode simply right click and copy the BOM cell.
Metadata Linking Between CAD and Drawing Files
You can now link metadata between CAD and drawing files, ensuring that key information stays synchronized across related files and reducing the need for manual updates.
To first enable the setting you'll need to navigate to your account-level settings in Bild and select 'File Settings' from the menu on the left. 'Master File Type' is the setting you'll want to enable. There are three options here None, CAD and Drawing. These determine what checkboxes you see when editing metadata.
None = No checkbox available
CAD = Checkbox available 'Also update linked Drawing file' meaning updates made to CAD file metadata will be reflected on the drawing file
Drawing = Checkbox available 'Also update linked CAD file' meaning updates made to the Drawing file metadata will be reflected on the CAD file
To see this feature in action navigate to a file with a linked drawing. Right click the file > Edit Metadata and you'll see the checkboxes at the bottom of this window. When checked, updates made to the file will be reflected on the linked file.
Auto Expand Revision Blocks
You can now see File Type directly in table views, making it easier to distinguish between parts, assemblies, drawings and other file types at a glance - especially useful when reviewing large datasets or preparing ECOs.
Add the file type column to your table through the following steps. Navigate to your account level settings int he top right corner of Bild. Select Table Columns from the menu on the left. Scroll to file type in the list of options. If this is a hidden column select the grey eye to enable this column. Use the dots to move your column to your preferred spot in the column list.
