Approval templates are similar to approval workflows, but they allow for manual intervention for dynamic stages or settings before the approval is initiated. For example, an approval template could include a stage for Project Managers. While the list of potential PM reviewers may remain consistent across approvals, not every PM will need to participate in or be notified about every approval. The template can automatically populate the list of PMs, allowing users to remove any reviewers who are not relevant to the specific project before initiating the approval.
Creating an Approval Template
Company-level administrators have the ability to create these templates from their Approval Templates settings.
1. Click +New in the Approval Templates setting.
2. Add a name for the template and the relevant reviewers to each stage.
Similar to workflows, you will see the option to assign a relative due date (e.g. 7 days after approval is created) and automatically release files following approval. When finished, click Create.
Employing an Approval Template
1. Click Create Approval in the relevant ECO. Select the template from the list at the top of the approval window.
2. The stages and reviewers will populate. Make any changes to the stages or settings in the template as needed e.g. removing the unassociated project manager. When satisfied, request the approval.
