Managing BOM Versions, Approvals, and Releases

Versioning BOMs

BOM versioning allows you to capture a snapshot of a BOM's data, enabling you to view or export previous versions at any time. Follow these steps to create a version of your BOM:

  1. Navigate to and open the BOM.

  2. Click the Current dropdown menu.

  3. Select Create A Version.

  4. Title the version and click Create.

Important: BOM versions are static snapshots and do not update with any new changes. To view the latest live BOM, select the Current BOM version.


BOM Approvals

BOM approvals let you request feedback or formal sign-off on BOMs from specific team members or groups. Here's how to initiate the approval process:

  1. Open the BOM you want to get approved.

  2. Click the Start Approval button.

  3. Optionally, set a due date and add reviewers or groups.

  4. Click Request Approval to begin the process.

Releasing BOMs

When you're ready to finalize and release a BOM, follow these steps:

  1. Open the BOM you want to release.

  2. Click the Close/Release button.

  3. Enter the BOM’s revision number or letter.

  4. Click Create to release the BOM.
