⚙️ General FAQs
What are the system requirements for using Bild?
Bild’s browser platform can be accessed from any modern browser on any operating system. The desktop app, however, is currently supported only on Windows computers.
Can I use Bild on both browser and desktop?
Yes! All users can access Bild from both the browser and the desktop app. In fact, many users alternate between both - using the browser for quick reviews or approvals and the desktop app for heavier CAD and file workflows.
What file types are supported in Bild?
Bild is file agnostic, meaning you can store and manage any file type, including CAD files, PDFs, images, spreadsheets, and more.
What happens if I lose internet connection while using the desktop app?
If files were previously synced and exist locally, you can continue working in your native applications. You won’t be able to check in/out files or sync changes while offline, but once reconnected, the desktop app will automatically sync with Bild.
How do I know if I’m working on the latest version of a file?
In the desktop app, an “Outdated” tag will appear on files that are not up to date. You can fetch updates to ensure you're working with the latest version. In the browser, the latest checked-in version is always displayed.
📁 File & Data Management FAQs
What does “Check In” and “Check Out” mean?
All files are read-only by default. Checking out a file gives you edit access and prevents others from making changes. Once you’re done editing, you check in the file to sync your changes with your team.
How do I recover a previous version of a file?
Navigate to the file’s Data Card, go to the Activity tab, and click “Revert” on the version you want to restore. You can also click the version block to view or download that specific version.
We have design and part templates. Where would you suggest putting those?
We recommend storing templates in your Design Library. This allows all users to access and download the latest versions of templates at any time.
