This month’s releases focus on simplifying your data model, strengthening search and editing tools, and making the Bild experience more intuitive across Workspaces, BOMs, metadata, and navigation. The biggest update is a major transition in how non-modeled components function in Bild - bringing increased clarity, standardization, and long-term consistency to your part data.
Let’s dive in.
Updates
Migrate NMCs to Items
We’ve officially transitioned all NMCs (Non-Modeled Components) into Items, fully sunsetting the NMC object type.
This creates a single, unified part structure, resulting in more consistent BOMs, clearer part management, stronger integration behavior, and better long-term maintainability. Your data model is now simpler, cleaner, and more reliable across all Workspaces.
Project Selector in Search
You can now filter search results by Workspace directly in the search panel, making it faster to locate the correct files when working across multiple product lines.
Edit Multiple BOM Attributes at Once
You can now update attributes across multiple BOMs simultaneously using the right-click context menu - ideal for bulk updates, standardization, and cleanup work. Select multiple BOMs from your Bill of Materials window and then right click and select edit BOM attributes.
Here you can mass update BOM attributes. To learn more about BOM attributes and how to configure these you can click here.
Download Released Files by Date
You can now Download a full list of files released between a chosen date and today, making audits and external reporting significantly easier. Hit download and an you'll see an excel file download to your browser. From here the information listed is file name, part number, revision, version number, path, project and released at date.
Updated Terminology to “Workspaces”
Throughout the platform, we’ve updated the terminology from “Projects” to “Workspaces.”
This change better reflects how teams use Bild today - collaborating across structured environments that house design files, releases, versions, metadata, and change processes.
You’ll now see the updated naming across navigation, search, tables, drawers, and dialog interfaces.
